John is an Operating Partner of Ajax Strategies, with a deep expertise in HVAC and Manfacturing. He also chairs the Board of Governors for equipment manufacturer, Steffes, LLC and is on the board of Small Sums, which helps the homeless keep their jobs. He founded Lanex Consulting, LLC, working with a wide variety of leadership teams on their business model and strategy.

A member of the leadership team of Trane Technology’s global commercial business, positions included SVP of Marketing & Strategy, VP/GM of three businesses: a clean sheet startup energy performance contracting business, the Building Automation Systems Division, the Variable Air Volume Business, and company spokesman for the CFC ozone depletion environmental issue.

At the University of Illinois, John served as President of the Alumni Board for Mechanical and Industrial Engineering and received the College of Engineering’s Distinguished Alumnus Award. He served on the Editorial Advisory Board for Consulting, Specifying Engineer Magazine and authored numerous articles on business and energy issues.

He has a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois, earned a registered Professional Engineer license in Wisconsin and is passionately proactive about electrification and energy efficiency including owning a net positive energy home.
